Hélène Veilleux

2007

21 cm X 30 cm

Chinese painting, watercolor. LING-NAN style, technique: Meigu (features and lines). This style is sometimes referred to as “line painting” because the shape of the flower is characterized by an amble outline and gradient principles.

Xuan paper (or Shuen paper, simplified Chinese: 宣纸, traditional Chinese: 宣紙, pinyin: xuānzhǐ) is a type of paper from China.

Goat hair brush; wolf hair and big pinch hair with badger hair.

The Chinese attribute to this plant the symbol of spring. Its delicate petals also recall the wings of a butterfly and it is for this reason that in China the iris is known as the “Hu-Tze Tieh” or “the purple butterfly”.

Today the blue iris is the emblem of Quebec since 1999.
